Joaquín de Fuentes Bardají
Head of the Public and Regulatory Area
Joaquín de Fuentes is co-managing partner of the Firm and head of the Public and Regulatory area. He joined the Firm as a partner in May 2012.
Previously, he worked as a Lawyer (from 1976 to 1979) and as a State Lawyer in Ministries, Madrid Courts, Court of Auditors, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court and European Court of Human Rights (1984 to 1989; from 1993 to 1994). He has been a senior State official as Technical
Secretary General of Justice (from 1990 to 1993); State Attorney General and State Counsellor (from 2004 to 2012).
In the corporate field, he has been Secretary of the Board of Directors and Chief Counsel of the Legal Department of RENFE (from 1994 to 1998) and General Secretary and Director of Regulation at the Telefónica Group (from 1998 to 2003). He currently holds the position of Director of Sociedad de Gestión de Activos procedentes de la Reestructuración Bancaria (SAREB).
His professional practice focuses on the area of conflicts with Public Administrations and in the area of all regulated sectors (energy, telecommunications, railways, audiovisual, markets, intellectual property, etc.).
He currently teaches on the Executive Master’s Degree in Corporate Legal Business at Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
