Siro Barro, Partner of the Tax Area of Escalona & de Fuentes, was interviewed by El Economista about a drop in 2022 in the amount of taxpayers presenting Wealth Tax declarations for the first time in history, according to statistics published by the Spanish Tax Agency. This tax has been levied since 2011 on fortunes of more than two million euros.
Siro Barro in the article expresses the view that one of the causes is that the 100% tax rebate in Andalusia led many taxpayers who did not have to pay the tax, to prefer to assume the penalty for failing to comply with this formal obligation to present a declaration.
